I would like to know what little doggie has his paw on the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery pumpkin. Is that a wolf pup? A silver Fox? He’s so pretty.

Couldn’t you at least spell CINCINNATI correctly?

Very cute, but I note a definite difference in attitude between those critters who can actually eat their pumpkin, and those who can’t!
That cat (leopard?) in particular seems to be saying “what the heck is this thing?” while the lemur, chimp, and elephant look pretty psyched….

David – Great observation but I must point out that big cats definitely do eat their pumpkins. At the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, the Afghan Leopard ate three pumpkins last year (and then purportedly got sick all over the glass)!

Hmmm… do you think he did that again this year? 😉
But yeah, it’s not always obvious who’s gonna eat what. E.g., That critter at Boonshoft looks pretty carnivorous, but is visibly taking pieces out of his pumpkin. (What is it, anyway?) And of course, some of the other animals seem to be playing with their pumpkins!
And I see now that I managed to mix up the two big cats through overhasty commenting — it’s the tiger who looks more puzzled by his present, and is poking at it. I do wonder how the leopard’s got into the water….
Domestic cats, of course, are known for whimsical tastes — just today I brought mine outdoors for the first time (harness & leash), and she was nibbling at individual grassblades and bits of sorrel, but not the dandelions or various other plants. At home, she usually wants to smell whatever I’m eating, but if I offer her a sample, that’s a different question — she’s liable to ignore even chicken, if I put it in her bowl rather than hand-feeding it to her.

Anything they can do to keep these animals from being bored, must be done…..
