The Newest, Cutest Baby Animals from the World's Zoos & Aquariums

Posted in , ,

ZooBorns introduced you to a tiny Tommy T. back in December, when he was just a cuddly cheetah cub at the Cincinnati Zoo. A week later, we shared pics of Tommy with his new playpal, Pow Wow the Anatolian shepherd puppy. Well both have grown a lot since then, but they have certainly not outgrown a vigorous wrestling match.

OMG, this is the cutest rumble-play ever! I love the picture where the dog’s got wide eyes as the cheetah goes for a neck nibble.

I have been following Tommy T and Pow Wow ever since I discovered them here. The dog’s name is Pow Wow, not Bow Wow. 🙂

Does Tommy T.still run in the cheetah run races. I guess his dog does not stay with him any more.

Tommy T has just retired from running in September 2021. Now he alternates with Redd in the display habitat and gets lots of naps in the shade or sun as he chooses. He still might do appearances but as always it’s his choice and he can say no.
The companion dogs stay with their cheetahs until they lose interest–usually 2-3 years. It’s a little longer with male cheetahs than females. After the dogs retire from being a companion, they are adopted by someone on staff.
