The Newest, Cutest Baby Animals from the World's Zoos & Aquariums

Posted in , ,

Our first submission from the Milwaukee County Zoo and it couldn't be better; two female tiger cubs born this summer made their debut earlier this month. We recommend you make your way to Milwaukee immediately to meet the new arrivals in person, but in the meantime, enjoy these outstanding pictures.

The Siberian Tiger, also known as the Amur Tiger, once roamed from the coasts of Eastern Russia all the way to Turkey. Now it is endangered with only an estimated 350 left in the wild and those are confined to a small patch of Siberia. The primary threat to the existing tiger population is the Asian medicine market.

to think they are endangered because of the asian medicine market makes me sick.

What is it about big cats? Fascinating pictures of magnificent animals. The reason why they are endangered is appalling. The “medicinal properties” are based on superstition.
I love especially the second photo. Wonder what mum is saying to her little girl?

The babies are adorable, but their mom is utterly breathtaking! I think she upstages her little ones.

I visited the cubs and mom, Amba, for almost an hour yesterday at MCZ. They ARE adorable! They chased each other, their mom, mom chased them, they ran in and out of the exhibit – pure delight to watch! The cubs have really brought out Amba’s personality and have allowed her to feel more comfortable to come out in the exhibit. Their birth has been a blessing!

I keep coming back to these beautiful images. Lucky you, Kim, to be able to visit the family at the exhibit! Thank you for your report on how Amba is enjoying life with her twins.

Not sure if anyone is checking back to these photos but the girls were named earlier this month – they are Tula and Nuri! They are getting so big already.
Smilla I do feel lucky to be able to visit them. I’m a volunteer at the zoo too so I take every opportunity I can for a visit. Amba wouldn’t come into the indoor exhibit at all prior to her cubs birth. (there is another outdoor habitat that she’d venture out) Her keepers are beyond thrilled with her mothering instincts and how she’s come out of her shell.
