The Newest, Cutest Baby Animals from the World's Zoos & Aquariums
Last week, photographer ysaleth snapped these adorable shots of the San Diego Zoo's New Guinea Singing Dog puppy. This wild dog has been isolated from other dog populations for nearly 6,000 years and has developed the ability to modulate its characteristic howl, resulting in a song-like vocalization.
That mom is soooooo valiant!

Sure looks like a Shiba Inu to me! My 5-month old Shiba pups “sing” when I come home every day. Sounds eerily human and like they are “talking”!
I had a stray dog “Bambi” that I found in NW Indiana in 1995 ish, I never knew what kind of dog she was….until I visited the San Diego Zoo in 2007ish. The mother NGSD is a spitting image of my dog Bambi. She died in 2004 from Luekemia of some sort that the Vets could not identify, but then again I took her to 3 different vets and none knew what type of dog she was. the closest I had come to identifying her breed was a picture of a dingo in a dog book and a Shiba Inu I had seen in a pet store. After seeing the New Guinea Singing Dog in the San Diego Zoo and researching on line, I am still trying to figure out how a New Guinea Singing Dog got to the Calumet River area of Northwestern Indiana.
