The Newest, Cutest Baby Animals from the World's Zoos & Aquariums
Meet the Cincinnati Zoo's newest little Arabian Sand Cat kittens, who just debuted to the public today. Born on October 29th, the kittens, male "Najah" and female "Fath," currently weigh just 1lb. 12 oz. and 1 lb. 6 oz. respectively.

The kittens' parents are a specially selected breeding pair from the Al Wabra Reserve in Qatar. Sand cats have fur on their feet to walk on hot sands and dig their own burrows to make nests and avoid the heat of the desert.

I remember reading some people think Sand Cats are what our modern cats were originally in the wild! I can see the resemblence!
This is actually the first time I find out about and see Sand Cats, but I am already putting them on my all-time-favorite list together with Cheetahs, Ocelots and Dolphins. They are such beautiful creatures!

for god.s sake -spend your money for these beautiful cats on saving them-they r not house pets. if you can think more about these cats and less about yourself you might be able to help save them from extinction in the wild !

I want one too! best way to save a species from extinction is to domesticate it, if theres a market for these cats, they will flourish, if not, well we will always have pictures to remember them by.

You said it! I have Arabian horses and don’t particularly want anything else. Didn’t know about Sand cats until today. I agree, they should be free, but if the only way to save them is zoo breeding, then lets do that so my Grandchildren can enjoy these beautiful animals.
How much is a baby sand cat?
You need to research the sand cat. They have a high mortality rate because of susceptibility to respiratory disease. They have to kept in very arid enclosures where the humidity is closely monitored. They are wild animals and need to stay wild.
I saw one of these in a “zoo” in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia when I was in Desert Storm. It was really a grocery store with a room in the back where you paid a few riyals to see their “zoo”. They had a bear in a cage barely big enough for it. The next would be a panther. Then the next cage had an actual German Shepherd! Not many dogs over there. Then I saw this cute looking house cat so I went up close and started to reach out. Big mistake! Those were the biggest fangs on the meanest little cat I ever heard! Luckily I didn’t get too close.
