The Newest, Cutest Baby Animals from the World's Zoos & Aquariums
Keepers at Chessington zoo are bringing up a baby meerkat by hand after he was rejected by his parents. According to African popular belief (mainly in the Zambian/Zimbabwean region), the meerkat is known as the sun angel, as it protects villages from the moon devil or the werewolf which is believed to attack stray cattle or lone tribesmen.

I love the little trilling and squeaking noises he’s making throughout the video. And the shot of him snuggling up with the stuffed animal is too cute for words.

eeeeeeeee! that is so cute! but sad the wee one was rejected by both parents. do the zoo keepers have ideas why this happened, like there were too many in the litter or it was “not viable” or the parents were inexperienced and freaked out? in any case thank goodness humans are around and hopefully the wee one will grow up to be a big one.
Soooo cute. And what a privilege for the keepers to be able to save his life and hand-rear him – although I’m sure he’s hard work like any baby!
This is very sad because meerkats have such a strongly social existence. I’m always afraid people will try to make pets of them. It’s not fair to the animal.
