The Newest, Cutest Baby Animals from the World's Zoos & Aquariums

Posted in , ,

This past weekend, record rainfall caused catastrophic flooding in Nashville and the Nashville Zoo staff worked day and night to ensure their animals' welfare. Their hard work paid off with not one, but two remarkable births, welcoming a Eurasian lynx cub on Saturday and a Baird's tapir on Sunday.  The tiny baby lynx is being hand-raised by keepers and will eventually join "Wildlife on Wheels”: the Zoo’s educational outreach program that takes animals to schools, senior centers, hospitals and other community areas that might not be able to make it to the zoo on their own. The mother lynx is showing no signs of stress that her baby is being hand-raised.

Boy, a lil singleton! Doesn’t his mommy want him? Sweet lil guy–I’d love to care for him–luv those kittens!

Where’s Mom? Why hand raised? I believe I saw a documentary once about how very difficult it is to raise Eurasian Lynx for working with the public. They’re bouncing-off-the-walls high energy and terminally cute creatures.
Oh, but the baby! So worth it! I’m sure I’d be a great Eurasian Lynx mom. Well, maybe more so when I was younger. Okay. I’ll donate to the zoo and let that be my contribution.
Still, I’d love to play-time with that little darling. Sigh.

Thanks so much to all those who worked so hard at the Nashville (TN) Zoo during the terrible flood last weekend (May 2nd).
Considering the magnatude of that storm it is amazing that no animals were lost. I have never been to this zoo, so I can only imagine that it is on high ground.

Ok. So. This is the fluffiest thing I’ve ever seen. He’s like a cloud of fur just ready to cuddle. I think I’m in love…

I am doing a report on the eurasian lynx, and when I found these photos – my heart melted – well done to the zoo staff.

If you need help with your report try the encyclopedia of the animal world – I did a report last year and it was really helpful, and yes, i agree – well done to the zoo keepers
