The Newest, Cutest Baby Animals from the World's Zoos & Aquariums

Posted in , ,

Louisiana's Audubon Zoo welcomed a fluffy American flamingo chick this week. Looking a bit like a confused, fuzzy baby dinosaur, the tiny chick spends most of its day in the security of mom's giant pink legs and webbed feet. American flamingos breed in the Galapagos and the coasts of northern South America.

The last one is amusing in its lack of flamingo-y grace.

Look at the size of the feet on that little chick!

FYI, this batch of flamingo chicks at Audubon were the first chicks hatched since hurricane Katrina. A great step for the zoo!

I don’t usually stop to write a comment, but it is difficult to find good info on zoo births. It sounds odd – but very cool topic. You did a lovely job in this blog post and I am going to look at the rest of your blog. Keep up the good work!
