The Gundi is a small rodent found in the rocky desert regions of Northern Africa. Female Gundis usually produce two offspring at a time after a two month period of gestation. Since moisture is so scarce in their native desert environment, mothers produce very little milk and their young are fully weaned within four weeks. These photos were taken over the weekend at Artis Zoo by visitor and regular ZooBorns contributor A.J. Haverkamp.

Why are they hiding under their mummy? How disrespectful of them… We need to see how cute they are.

I’ve never before seen an adorable rodent! It’s like a chipmunk and rabbit combined. Maybe this is what Michael Jackson was really singing a love song to in “Ben” the testimonial ode to a rat / human allegiance. Put them on t-shirts now before PIXAR and Disney secure the licensing rights.

You have to tap the screen so that the bird flaps its wings, trying to keep a steady rhythm in order to pass through the pipes scattered through its path.
