The Newest, Cutest Baby Animals from the World's Zoos & Aquariums

We covered the arrival of baby Ebi, a female chimpanzee born at the North Carolina Zoo on January 16, on ZooBorns a few weeks ago. You can read all the details and see her earliest pictures there. In these new photos, little Ebi looks out at her new world from the safety of her mother's arms and eventually drifts off for a nap.

The baby chimp will be on exhibit occasionally, depending on the weather and her acclimation to the exhibit.

Too Cute!!!! I cried, this is beautiful. I’m now thinking of having a Chimp as my pet 🙂 I’m so excited, Tomorrow I’ll order one off of my daily nearby Zoo’s website. Thank you for these breathtaking images, You have made my day.

PLEASE DO NOT GET A CHIMPANZEE OR ANY APE AS A PET!!!!
They are very social animals with their own kind. If you get one & then have to get rid of it when it becomes too strong & hard to handle, it won’t know how to be a chimpanzee because it wasn’t raised by chimpanzees. It won’t be able to adapt well to the complex chimpanzee social structure & will probably get beat up & possibly killed by other chimpanzees. Usually the only hope for pet chimps in their adult life is living in solitary because they don’t fit in anywhere. That’s no life for any animal.
If you really love chimpanzees, find an organization that helps them in the wild & get involved. Or volunteer at a zoo so you can see and learn how precious they are when they are allowed to be the chimpanzees they were meant to be.
I myself volunteer at a zoo and it has really opened my eyes to the great conservation work that zoos are doing for all animals that are vulnerable to endangerment in the near future.
    🙂

I totally agree with you Joanna. Let’s put the chimp’s needs before our own. Such amazing creatures do not belong in anyone’s home.

C’mon, Shara was just kidding! She said “order one off of my daily nearby Zoo’s website” – like that could even happen!!!
But I do agree that chimps should never be pets. The children are adorable and loveable, but as adults they become scary strong and frequently mean. Better to enjoy them in a safe environment with their families.

I would hope she was kidding but you never know what people will do.
Maybe this post will reach someone who is thinking of making this horrible mistake.

I am a great friend of Shara M. last night she called me and i heard this frantic chimp like yelp. My heart was racing, at first i thought this was a joke..But we will never know. I went to her house last night, and her door was locked. I tried her cell and nothing happened, I than checked this website because she told me that people were critizicing her on there…I totally agree with all of you. You should let a chimp roam in its own enviroment. Same with ALL wild animals, this chimp probably KILLED my Shara……..

Sorry, but your post isn’t funny considering the people that have been attacked by chimpanzees. Like Charla Nash, the Connecticut woman who almost died when her friend’s pet chimp attacked her and ripped off her face and hands.
The posts weren’t criticizing, they were to inform and educate on this issue but I guess it missed in this case.
