The Newest, Cutest Baby Animals from the World's Zoos & Aquariums

On April 9 the Duke Lemur Center welcomed two new Pygmy Slow Loris twins to mother Loris, Sovanni. The Duke Lemur is the foremost prosimian research and advocacy center and sanctuary. Prosimians are primitive primates that include lemurs, lorises, bushbabies and tarsiers.

The vulnerable Pygmy Slow Loris is a nocturnal tree dweller that lives up to its name, moving in slow-motion while hunting prey. While they may look cute and cuddly (thermo-nuclearly cute if you ask us) this animal has a toxic bite, a very rare trait amongst mammals. Widespread poaching for the pet trade and use in traditional medicines sold in China has put a tremendous strain on the species in its native home of Southeast Asia.

Okay, I was already saying, “Eeeeee!” before I saw the shot with the hand in it…and realized how truly teeny these guys are!
I love lorises anyway, but these are the most fantastic little critters! I guess the toxic bite is for those creatures immune to their cuteness.

I ADORE these babies. Have been lucky enough to see Slow Lorus at both the Bronx and London zoos. They are so intriguing…very mysterious and so beautiful to look at.

How in the wild wide world can any human being possibly doubt a loving Father Who creates for us and gives us such incredible varities of species for us to enjoy and teach us of His magnificence? No human being…I do not care how intelligent, how skilled, how technologically advanced could ever dream up the species God designs for our help and pleasure. But like everything else He does for us we find a way to mess it up.
