The Newest, Cutest Baby Animals from the World's Zoos & Aquariums

Arnie, a stray cat who became
known for his extraordinary talent as a “babysitter” of abandoned newborn
animals brought to the Linton Zoo, passed
away peacefully last week.  Arnie’s favorite
creatures were lion cubs, and he babysat all four of the zoo’s adult lions as
well as some of their cubs.

Arnie wandered onto the zoo
property in 2000 and quickly worked his way into the hearts of the zoo staff.  Named after Arnold Schwarzenegger, Arnie
gained fame after photos of him with a lion cub made international headlines.  Even after his moments in the spotlight,
Arnie didn’t let fame go to his head.  He
continued in his role as a friend to all, greeting zoo guests (especially those
who were carrying tasty treats), controlling pests, and cheering up anyone who
was feeling down.

Linton Zoo staff described
Arnie as a “real live Garfield” whose outstanding personality will be missed by
not only the people who loved him, but by his many animal friends around the
zoo – especially the animals that he babysat over the years.  Rest in peace, Arnie.

I have never been to your ZOO ,, but seeing these pictures of a stray cat earning fame for his ability of being with wild animals who would rather kill a domestic cat let alone befriend one is AWESOME! I am sorry for the ZOO’S LOSS HUGS TO YOU ALL

Some pictures seems to be photoshopped. Blur and outlines around the lion are weird.

That’s a really stupid thing to say as there are plenty of people to testify they witnessed how comfortable and safe he was when he was close to the big cats.

Doubtful that the photos are photoshopped, too many witnesses to this cat caring for lion cub for them to go through the bother with that.
The cat did a good thing and should be remembered for his good works, not doubted when it has been seen and proven to be true.

The pics do look a little strange but the story seems completely true–take a look at the video at

Just means the contrast was a bit high on the photo, that’s all. I’ve ended up with that same “photoshopped” look on untouched photos of mine. Not that unusual, really.

Love this story. Hate the stupid Linton Zoo staff that compared Arnie to a “real live Garfield”. Sure, they’re both orange tabby’s but Arnie seems to have had an amazingly friendly and caring personality where Garfield is famous for being a self-centered, abusive, lazy, binge-eating pessimist. Where’s the comparison ?

I am just now seeing this story in August of 2016. I believe it completely. Dear Sweet Arnie, you did your job well here on earth. I am sure that Cynthia said, Flights of Angels did indeed accompany you to your rest. Be Well dear friend of both animals and people. God has a special joy filled mission for you in Heaven.
