Native to New Guinea, the Victoria Crowned Pigeon (named after Queen Victoria) is vulnerable due to habitat loss. The Zoological Society of London was thrilled at this recent birth, which was part of a European program to breed a "reserve population" in the event that the species ever went extinct in the wild.

For the first time in 10 years, two Asian lion cubs have been born at the ZSL London Zoo. Only ten weeks old, the brother and sister are the first cubs to be born to parents Abi and Lucifer. The furry youngsters have spent the last couple of weeks bounding around their paddock, familiarizing themselves with the outdoor enclosure.

At only three weeks old, Conchita, a tiny critically endangered monkey born at ZSL London Zoo is already a beacon of hope for her species.
With only a few white-naped mangabey monkeys left struggling for survival in the wild after deforestation and hunting has decimated their populations, each individual monkey is incredibly precious. Conchita is only the second white-naped mangabey ever born in the UK.
