Baby Penguins or Beanie Babies?

SeaWorld San Antonio’s penguin population has increased with the recent hatching of Gentoo, Rock Hopper and Chinstrap Penguin chicks. This has been the most successful year for Chinstrap Penguins in SeaWorld San Antonio’s history, with nine chicks produced. A soft grey in color, Chinstrap Penguin chicks average about 70 grams when hatched, but easily grow to over 500 grams in just ten days, thanks to the regurgitated fish fed to them by both parents. They will get their distinctive black “chinstrap,” along with their other adult feathers, when they fledge at about three months of age.

    These are not animals to keep as pets, you know. They require a very specific envirnment, diet and so forth, not a back yard or an aquarium

    Baby vultures actually look just like that, only with baby vulture faces and big black scaly feet. Remarkably cute for vultures.

    Ummmm … I’m pretty sure that Beanie Babies are toys and can “survive” in just about any environment and require no diet at all. However, I do agree that I would not keep Beanie Babies in the backyard long term, or in an aquarium at all.

    Amazon sells several adult penguin Beanie Babies. “Slapshot” appears to be the only Beanie Baby penguin with the baby penguin coloring.
