National Zoo's proud Mama Bear Billie-Jean has her paws full. Her two new bouncing bundles of joy are keeping themselves and her very busy. Also known as Spectacled Bears, this species is threatened in the wild due to habitat loss, hunting, and poaching.

After much anticipation, the Smithsonian National Zoo reveals the first pics of their two Andean bear cubs born mid-January. After months of seclusion in their den with Mom, zoo staff finally determined that one of the cubs is male and the other is female. The cubs remain off exhibit as they adjust to the presence of people. Also known as spectacled bears, this species is native to South America and vulnerable to extinction from poaching and habitat destruction.

Meet the newest residents of the Bronx Zoo – a furry foursome – one young grizzly and three brown bear cubs – rescued seperately in Montana and Alaska. Having just arrived in their new home they are clearly enjoying themselves, running, splashing, and playing even in the cold. Watch the big cubs frolic in this heartwarming video.

Born Dec. 14th, these two little polar bear cubs have just emerged from their den at the Ouwehands Zoo in the Netherlands. The little guys love nothing more than frolicking in the muddy grass but their mother has other ideas.

Pagi, a female Bornean sun bear cub whose name means morning in a Malayan dialect, reassures her brother, Palu, who is named after a valley in Borneo, as they made their public debut at the San Diego Zoo today.

We thought it was time for a polar bear cub… and we didn't have to look back far. Little Wilbaer was born at Stuttgart's Wilhelma Zoo this past March and boy does he fit the bill. Looks like the Wilhelma Zoo recognized his potential as well, because they trademarked his name!
