A female West African chimpanzee was born in Beekse Bergen. This species is endangered in the wild.
"Both the young and mother Anne Clara are doing well," says head zookeeper Kris Jansen. It is currently unknown who the father is. Jansen: “Just like in the wild, there are also several adult males and females living in our groups. There are several fertile males in the group and these animals do not have a permanent partner. DNA analysis should therefore show who the father is in the future.”
“Roux” Audubon Zoo’s critically endangered orangutan infant in his outdoor habitat with his mother, Menari. Born on Christmas Eve, Roux received months of around-the-clock care from animal care and veterinary staff. Thanks to Roux’s dedicated care team, he has been successfully reunited with his mother and the rest of the orangutan group.

[June 7, 2022] – Nashville Zoo is excited to announce the birth of a cotton-top tamarin monkey. The baby was born on May 29 to 8-year-old Caqueta (mom) and 17-year-old Pancho (dad) and the sex has yet to be determined. This species is among the most endangered primates in the world so each birth in human care is crucial to the survival of the species.

Ali was born at Brookfield Zoo in 2018 to mom Koola and is part of the Zoo’s western lowland gorilla troop in Tropic World. Western lowland gorillas are critically endangered primarily due to commercial hunting for the bushmeat trade, diseases such as the Ebola virus, as well as the illegal pet trade and habitat destruction from logging. It is estimated that there are approximately 200,000 western lowland gorillas in their native West Africa habitat (the forests of Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Nigeria, Congo, and Angola), and almost 350 western lowland gorillas living in accredited North American zoos. Belfast Zoo has announced a menagerie of new arrivals ahead of the Bank Holiday. The latest new-borns include critically endangered cotton top tamarin twins, an endangered crowned lemur, prairie dog pups and penguin chicks.
Tokyo the baby Sumatran Orangutan at Zoological Center Ramat Gan is already 11 months old.
Recently she gained the courage and ability to venture away from mom and explore her surroundings. She is carefully developing her skills and strength.
She’s also starting to try solid foods.

The Milwaukee County Zoo is excited to announce the birth of a Japanese macaque. The baby, whose sex is not yet known, was born May 1 to 9-year-old mom, Usagi, and 7-year-old dad, Kota. This marks the first offspring for Usagi and the fourth for Kota. Visitors can see the baby in the Macaque Island habitat. Japanese macaques are also known as snow monkeys, a terrestrial Old World monkey species native to Japan.
